What crime did Jeffrey Archer commit?
As so many people have answered he was jailed for perjury etc., but his biggest crime was to lie consistently, almost from the moment he was able speak, about his background and achievements – all of which were untrue or highly distorted. There are several biographies on this charlatan worth reading for the details. NB He’s never sued any of the authors, so that tells you something! Recently, a well known British boxer was stripped of his MBE for being involved in a nasty road accident… yet the same UK government/monarch allows a really shameful person, namely J Archer, to keep his peerage (not ‘knighthood’, by the way). That means, theoretically, that this ex convict can sit in the House of Lords and pass legislation which we, the law abiding majority, will have to follow. What a stupid crazy system our country operates… but having friends in high places helps, I suppose.
