What CPT code should I use for Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potential (VEMP) testing?
The general guidance from the ASHA Health Care Economics Committee (HCEC) is to use 92585 (auditory evoked potentials for evoked response audiometry and/or testing of the central nervous system; comprehensive) for the VEMP. It is true that if you do an ABR and a VEMP on the same date, you can bill 92585 only once on that date of service. It’s the same situation of doing an ABR and ASSR or an ABR and MLR on the same date. Only one 92585 is reported. The committee is considering recommending a new code for VEMP testing.
