What courses do I need to take in high school to become a fashion designer?
If you go to a standard public high school, they probably don’t offer fashion design courses. But you could definitely take home ec. And definitely take every drawing class that you can manage to. Figure drawing would be key. Just learning how to conceptualize your ideas on paper is just as crucial as knowing how to sew. Graphic design classes are also available in a lot of high schools. Take those and learn Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop very thoroughly. Also, talk to your school counselors/advisors and see if they have any further suggestions. One more thing you could do is to set your sights high by picking a college that offers the fashion design degree/curriculum you’d be looking for and contact their faculty regarding this question.
