The first year introduces you to object-oriented programming in Java, Logic, Artificial Intelligence, and Human Computer Interaction (CS1012 and CS1512). In second year you learn about algorithmic problem solving, data management and human computer interaction. There is also the Intelligent Hardware and Robotics course where you can learn how to program lego robots. The third year has a year-long course on Software Engineering where students work in teams to develop a major software system. Other third year courses cover essential computing topics such as operating systems and artificial intelligence. The fourth year is also designed around a substantial project, but this time students work on their own on a specific topic which they can select from a list of options. Most of these projects are related to the Department’s research. Other fourth year courses are also related to the Department’s research, including options in Knowledge Technologies, Natural Language Processing, Graphics
