What Country/Land Did The Gypsies Originate From Originally?
Originally from India, in fact the original Gypsy language can be traced to northern India, and is closely related to Indian languages. Real Gypsies are very dark skinned, and have a distinctive appearance. The term Roma actually comes from a misconception that they originated in Romania, as many Gypsies had settled there. Same with the term Gypsy, there was another misconception that they originated from Egypt. The terms Gypsy and Roma originated in the dark ages and middle ages when people had little idea of ethnic origins, linguistics etc. Modern Linguists and Ethnologists have pretty much pinned the Gysy origins down to India. Real Gypsies should be regarded as distinct from Didekoys, Pikeys, Travellers etc, these groups arent ETHNICALLY Gypsy, they are European peoples, often of Irish origin, who have adapted a semi nomadic lifestyle.
