Wheeling is the name of a city located in the state of West Virginia, in the USA. Majority of the city is regarded as a part of Ohio County, while the rest it regarded as a part of Marshall County. Wheeling is the county seat of Ohio County. As per the population census conducted in the year 2000, the city housed a total of 31,419 residents, with 31,059 in Ohio County, with the remaining residing in Marshall County. Wheeling was the place at which the Wheeling Convention was held, and this convention was significant as it decided the establishment of the state of West Virginia. It also served as the capital at two points in time but lost out to Charleston due to political complications.
