Answer Pamela: I’m not sure you’ll find any source that will give you a hard number of exactly how many countries have freedom of expression vs how many don’t. The reason is that there are so many gray areas on this issue, even in developed western countries, including the U.S. I can suggest, however, the following excellent resources to help you: a) U.S. Dept. of State (www.state.gov): State does annual human rights reports on 196 countries. You can access these reports at: www.state.gov/g/drl/hr/c1470.htm. Read the Preface and Introduction sections before you go to individual country reports. In the latter reports, look at “Section 2 Respect for Civil Liberties, Including: a.
