What countires in the world celebrate Kwanzaa?
Kwanzaa is an African American innovation of various celebrations and festivals from a variety of African nations. Since its emergence in 1967 it has been called the fastest growing celebration of its kind in modern history. From a handful of folks in Los Angeles to untold millions in 2008. It is estimated that at least 15 million people world wide celebrate Kwanzaa. Some estimates range as high as 30 million. While the overwhelming majority of those are in the U.S., Kwanzaa is celebrated in Canada, the Caribbean, England and in some places in Africa. One of the most prolific proliferators of the tradition claims to have shared the celebration in 20 localities outside the U.S. But no nation, as far as I know, including the U.S., has declared Kwanzaa an official celebration. It is a tradition that has life and is growing simply because it speaks to the hearts and souls of the folks who embrace it. Peace.
