What could cause numbness down the ouside of a hand down into the little finger?
If you sat on it or somehow put pressure on it then you block blood flow to a nerve and cause temporary numbness. Otherwise you may have pinched a nerve or have some inflammation (like carpal tunnel syndrome). Or in rare cases it can mean something more serious, like some neurodegerative disease. But they usually cause numbness with no cause – like your hand just goes numb suddenly for no apparant reason. Get it checked.
