What could cause chronic pain in the perineum and flanks.?
Hi ‘rational’. I have been where you are. For years I was diagnosed with similar useless ‘prostatitis’ labels. And, of course, treatment was not helpful. It took many years to finally discover my pain was caused by chronic kidney stones. As with you, all of the tests were negative. CT, Xrays, multiple IVPs, even cystoscopy with retrograde IVP (I won’t do that again, ‘thankyou’). Nothing showed anything! But, finally, the stones started to pass. Holding a stone in your hand is ‘pretty conclusive evidence’ of the cause of the pain. Stones can be too small and/or too ‘radiotranslucent’ to be seen on diagnostic studies. But they still hurt and can take years to ‘pass’. Obviously, I can’t say this is the cause of your problem. But the symptoms you describe ‘fit’, so it is a ‘possibility’. One additional thought.
