A friend of mine took his 2000 Dodge Dakota ( automatic transmission ) to a garage to have it repaired because the oil pressure kept dropping, They changed the oil pump and cleaned out the tube connected to the oil pump. Oil pressure was fine while idling in the garage, but when they took it out for a test drive the oil pressure dropped again. So they took the truck to the local Dodge dealership to have them connect it to the computer to see what was wrong with it. Nothing at all showed up on the computer. So the garage still doesn’t know what the problem is. Does anyone have any idea what’s causing the oil pressure to drop? A: The oil pressure needs to checked with a manual gauge. If it ok, replace the sender. If it is actually low, he has done damage to the bearings. This is most likely the case if the oil pressure is ok at idle but drops when driven. If they had to clean the oil pump pick up, that means that it was sludge starving the engine of oil while he was driving it. This wear
