What Costs are Associated with Algal Cultivation?
While sunlight is free and abundant, especially in the Southwestern corner of the U.S., it is the cost of feedstock and nutrients which make up about 80% of the total costs of algal cultivation. In order for the high oil producing properties of algae to become commercially attractive, the costs of the algal feedstock and nutrients has to be reduced. We at SGT developed a low cost – patent-pending – process that uses a proprietary feedstock to achieve superior algal biomass and oil production.
