What copyright issues are involved with using someone elses code?
Some of the software listed above was written by a single person. Other works are collaborative efforts. Of all of these, I know of only Dead Souls as being in the public domain. In other words, the authors have retained the copyrights on their code or assigned them to a larger group, yet thay have decided to allow others to use their code for free. Because these works are protected by copyright just like any other software you use, you may only use the software as long as you are not in violation of its licensing restrictions. The most common licensing restriction is to prevent commercial use without paying the developers a licensing fee.
