What contributes to redness and itching in the eyes?
Pollens, mold, dust, detergents, animal dander can all cause redness and itching in the eyes. Seasonal allergies also play a major role. Ocular allergies can be accompanied by a runny nose, sinus trouble, and sensitivity to light. Crusty yellowish or greenish discharge in the eye is due to bacterial infection and not due to allergies. It should be treated immediately.
