Its Maori (indigenous people) name is Aotearoa, which informally translates as ‘land of the long white cloud’ though the actual translation is unknown. In other words, it’s not a continent, or on a continent. It is the largest country in the South Pacific, which is its region. Alternatively, it can be called the second largest country in Oceania, Australia being the largest (and close to having the most number of New Zealanders too…hehe).
