What constitutes full-time training in the Australian GP Training Program?
• Be working at least 9 sessions per week. In terms of hours this is a minimum of 9 sessions at 3.5 hours each, ie. a minimum of 31.5 hours per week. This time includes clinical consulting time, teaching time within the practice, released teaching time and time spent on administration. • Be working on at least 4 different days per week ( ie. 11 hours per day for three days is not full-time). • Have at least 27 hours per week of consulting time (this does not mean that all appointments must be full). Thus a GP Registrar working 32 hours per week in their first 6 months of training might not be full-time as they will have three hours teaching in the practice plus an average of 3 hours teaching release per week plus administration time.
