What Conservation Practices are Available?
There are practices available to suit a variety of needs and goals that a landowner has in mind. Landowners may choose to install a grass or tree/shrub buffer along streams that run through their property. This includes that availability of fencing, stream crossings and construction of new watering facilities. There are also practices available for wildlife enthusiasts. Native Warm Season Grasses and wildflowers provide some of the best upland cover for a wide variety of game and non-game species of wildlife. Planting Introduced Cool Season Grasses and Legumes is another practice available to landowners. Wildlife Food Plots can be planted as a compliment to another practice. Here the landowner has planted Sorghum to provide a food source for late fall and into the winter. What Types of Payments are Available to Landowners?
