What conditions must be met for a position to qualify under the waiver of the FWS institutional-share requirement for tutors in a family literacy program?
Since July 1, 1998, the Department has authorized a federal share of up to 100 percent of the compensation earned by a FWS student employed as a tutor in a family literacy program that provides services to families with preschool-age children or children who are in elementary school. The work must be performed by the FWS student for the school itself; for a federal, state, or local public agency; or for a private nonprofit organization. The school does not have to ask the Department for this waiver.
