What conditions came together to make the 2005 season so active?
A combination of several features came together to make 2005 active. There was very low vertical wind shear, especially in the Caribbean during the August-October period. In addition, warm sea-surface temperatures and abundant moisture dominated the tropical Atlantic providing very favorable conditions for hurricane development and intensification.
