What conditions and capacities are indispensable for a theater designer?
A great observation and fantasy capacity; the theater designer is a plastic artist and as such he or she must be able to develop a metaphoric thinking from his or her use of visualization; only that in his case, he is always part of a team, he doesnt have the loneliness of the plastic creator who works alone, or he has it later, when the team has arrived to a solid concept of the staging and the designer should have the capacity to adjust the design of the scenic image to the poetics of the director and the company he works with. First, he should work in a team to read the play, to fix the staging concept; this is what we call table-work, the designer should later investigate very often the time, and according to the staging concept of the art director; the historic aspects are taken as reference, which can range from an archaeological vision of the design to the development of an imagery that seeks no period reference.
