Pigment producing cells called melanocytes are dispersed through the skin. Melanocytes make the pigment that gives the skin its natural colour. Over time, sun exposure and the natural aging process can cause accumulations of pigments in the skin leading to age spots, hyperpigmentation or freckles. Skin pigmentation can also occur during pregnancy due to hormonal changes in the body which can resolve naturally post natal or worsen. How are pigmented lesions treated?
