What complications have arisen with recent DVD releases?
What has unfortunately happened is that people have not understood the processes a DVD has to go through to get onto the shelves. They’ve been scheduling release dates based on their previous experience of scheduling a VHS release. With VHS we used to just get a broadcast tape, put our logos on it, clean it up, and the product was then duplicated for mass distribution. But that doesn’t happen with a DVD and it’s very, very complicated. Did BBFC classification delay The Robots of Death? That is absolutely correct. That was just the most unforeseen thing.
