What competitors does XBRL GL have?
There is no other work that is global, holistic and XML-based that represents the information that XBRL GL can. XBRL GL is not optimized for one use (e.g., tax audit) over another (e.g., internal data integration). So while there are EDI standards for some of the data interchange purposes of internal reporting, and there are files for pulling data from accounting systems for tax audit, there is no true competition for XBRL GL. There is no other standard that can track book reporting versus tax reporting simultaneously and track the permanent and timing differences. There are various standards competing for the role of vital core component, being standards for names, addresses, inventory items and other building blocks, XBRL GL has a generic set for binding them all together.
