This machine was invented at Fonar Corporation, located in Melville, N.Y, one of the first manufacturer of MRI machines. In fact, the first MRI unit in San Joaquin County that started operation in 1986 was made by Fonar. The founder and president of Fonar Corporation is Dr. Raymond Damadian who received an award from President Reagan for his invention.
