What common grocery store items will increase my energy (as i am always tired), Increae my metabolism (as I could lose a few), and make me feel better?
Answer Hi Doug, There is not really a specific list of foods that will increase your energy or metabolism – simply a collection of strategies and habits that will have that affect. To increase your energy levels: 1. Eat every 4-6 hours (this includes making sure to have breakfast in the morning!) 2. Make sure you include a good source of protein in your meal/snack each time you eat. Good sources of protein include meat/fish/poultry, peanut butter, nuts/seeds, eggs, legumes, tofu. Dairy products (milk, yogurt and cheese) are also reasonable sources but not as protein rich as the other foods I mentioned. I am definitely not advocating a “high protein diet”. Protein helps to stabilize your metabolism, so it’s better to eat smaller amounts frequently throughout the day rather than one large source (such as a big piece of meat) at dinner time. 3. Reduce/limit your intake of sugar and simple carbohydrates (e.g. anything made with white flour) – these cause your blood sugar to spike right aft
