What Comes After HCFC Refrigerant Gas Phase Out?
Countries which are identified in the Montreal Kyoto Protocol are issued with a government directive which phases out hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs). This is to help achieve targets in the reduction of production and use of HCFCs. Companies which use systems for commercial and industrial refrigeration, air conditioning, and HVAC are bound to comply. These phase out regulations are nothing new. The protocol was written many years ago. In fact, some countries are well ahead of schedule and plan to complete R-22 and other refrigerant gas phase outs ahead of schedule. The interesting twist is the relationship between ozone depleting substances like HCFCs and their added impact as high global warming potential greenhouse gases.
