What colors of platy fry will i get?
You would have to know a lot about the parents in order to really ascertain what color fry you were getting. Specific “fish” breeders have color “lines” (especially in guppies) where the parents and grandparents etc etc go back and back and have always been the same color. (The same is true for breeding dogs for color, e.g. the rust and black doberman pinscher pattern). Buying two fish from a petstore, you’ll probably have a large variety of colors you can get with your fry. I’m not sure of platy genetics as far as colors are concerned but I would venture a guess that anything black/red would be dominant over white – so you’ll probably end up with quite a few orange/red fry 🙂 Let me know, I’m interested to see. If you want yellow-wag tails, you’d have a LOT of work!!
