What color were the French rifleman uniforms in World War 1?
This is interesting since there were some Zouave regiments within the French army and they were wearing US uniforms. In the 1850s, the Zouave uniform was very colorful and had baggy pants and these were copied by many countries. The Zouave uniform was very popular in the US prior to the Civil War and were adopted by many State regiments and worn during the war in 1861-1865.
