When my teenager left home, her bedroom was a potential office with dark blue carpet and dark blue trim, light grey ceiling and medium to dark grey walls. Oh so depressing! I wanted to repaint and re-carpet the entire room but my budget was tight…….I had her 3 colors of leftover paints. I only spent money on a quart of white. I decided to “marbelize” the room. I left the light grey on the ceiling and the navy trim to help tie in the mix of colors. The light grey actually reflects the ambient room light just fine. The Navy trim sets everything off nicely. I used a wooly rag, tapped and blotted and semi-blended the 4 colors, keeping the lighter colors more dominant, then using a feather with the white, “veined” the marble “cracks” in. The blotting method went quite fast and was less messy than the conventional roller method. Just be sure to tape off the ceiling edge and the trim for a clean line. There is no need to paint the walls first as the method completely covers the underlying
