What color shirt and tie should I wear with a brown and tan herringbone sport coat?
That depends upon your skin, hair and eye color, but consider yellow, orange, green, contrasting browns, cream, ecru, rust, white, wine or pale blue not dark blue. There are many ways to blend such colors. A traditional look has a light shirt with a darker tie, e.g. yellow shirt with green and brown striped tie. Be careful about blending patterns. If the herringbone is small, wear wide stripes in the tie. If the herringbone is large, a club tie is safer than a striped one. If the herringbbone is really bold, a solid tie may be best.
