What color are a zebras black stripes during the first six months of life?
There is no hard and fast rule here. Black is the background colour and white make the stripes. I have browsed through many pics of young zebra from newborn to subadult – some newborns have a distinct brown colour in the black regions but typically the neck region of these individuals seems to be black.
