What colleges offer a good music program?
SUNY Fredonia has an AWESOME music program – especially for education (and performance there is great too, esp. for undergrad). They have great teachers and facilities (they recently built a brand new state- of-the-art recital hall). It’s a state school, and by far worth it (the best NY state school for music). You can also look into Ithaca, although I think you’d get great education at Fredonia w/ state tuition. If you want to go to NYC you can go to Juilliard or Manhattan School of Music. Those are the 2 best ones in NYC, and the Eastman School of Music (Univ. of Rochester) makes up the top 3 music schools in the state…but I would for sure look into SUNY Fredonia if you want to go to a state school (SUNY Fredonia has the best Music Education program in the state – everyone there gets a job at a great school right after they graduate). So to answer your question, the closest ones to you (I think NYC is far from Syracuse..) would be Eastman or SUNY Fredonia. You can also look into MS
