What clubs exist for the Tibetan Mastiff?
The Tibetan Mastiff Club of America (TMCA) was first formed in the 1970s and has been incorporated this year. The TMCA is a dog-owner friendly club while also representing the oldest and most experienced Tibetan Mastiff kennels in the United States. Although the American Kennel Club (AKC) does not recognize the Tibetan Mastiff, it is recognized by many rare breed clubs in the United States, and by the major kennel clubs in Canada and Europe. Recent changes in the AKC determined that Tibetan Mastiffs can be registered in the newly created AKC Foundation Stock Service (FSS), and given that breed recognition by the AKC is expected soon, registration in the FSS is recommended.
