What clubs and organizations does Joel Furr belong to?
Joel has never been much of a joiner in the sense of signing up for clubs and organizations; he prefers to have his free time to himself rather than having to head out to some meeting each night of the week. He belonged to the Demosthenian Society when he was a student at the University of Georgia and belonged briefly to two professional associations when he was in graduate school but never attended any events or conferences. Joel dislikes the petty politics that plague many organizations and prefers to remain aloof from the madding crowds who use their officership in various organizations as some sort of ego fix.
