What clothing and equipment does the club provide?
The club provides special clothing and equipment that must be worn during all training as directed by the club coaches and committee members: • under-plastron (a one sided, half sleeved cloth top worn under the fencing jacket to provide protection under the fencing arm and to part of the chest and back) • fencing jacket (a long sleeved cloth jacket, worn over the under-plastron to protect the entire upper body) • glove (a padded long glove worn on the fencing arm, to hold the weapon and protect the fencing arm) • mask (a protective strong metal mask with in-built padded cloth bib to protect head, face and neck areas) • lame (a sleeveless conductive jacket, worn over the fencing jacket and covers the target area for electronic point scoring) • foil (one of the types of swords used in fencing.
