What clinical agencies are available for preceptorship placements and will I have a choice of placement?
SMU is seeking a variety of clinical agencies with whom to partner, asking for placements that will provide a new graduate with opportunities to practice the essential clinical assessments, interventions, and decision making foundational to the RN role. In the acute setting, this generalist focus will be achieved mainly in medical, surgical, and telemetry units caring for children, adults, and older adults. There may be placements in long term care settings and community based agencies for all or part of the program. An effort will be made to place those accepted for the program at a facility within reasonable distance of their residence. There will be little latitude to honor special requests.
