What classic novels take place in Florida?
Several award-winning American novels have been set in the Sunshine State. E.L. Konigsburg’s 1991 Newbery-winning The View from Saturday takes place in Florida. Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings set a number of her novels in her home state of Florida, including the 1939 Pulitzer Prize winner, The Yearling. Another Pulitzer Prize winner, James Gould Cozzens’s Guard of Honor (1949), is staged in a fictional Army Air Forces base in Florida during World War II.
