What City Did William Shakespeare Do Most Of Hs Work?
London. This is where the principal playhouses were situated, some being especially built for the purpose of showing plays. James Burbage, father of the illustrious Richard, built one of the first in 1576. This was later pulled down, and re-built as the Globe. Shakespeare is reputed to have gone to London as early as 1582-3, and stayed there. History however, tells us that he often returned to his hometown of Stratford, and that is where he eventually died. All, or most, of his plays however, were written in his lodgings in London.
