What church programs are effective for building attendance?
A state of the art, cutting edge preschool or elementary school always atracts young paritioners. You just need to offer a welcoming envoronment so the parents will want to stay as well. I have contemplated your question before and I see a “cycle of faith” in the Christian church. Young people coming to faith hunger for the basic Gospel message. I dont even think paritioners get bored of it but I think as pastors grow spiritually they long to teach deeper truths. The problem is that the new person walking in the door is completely bored. They don’t want to hear words like transfiguration, emaculate conception and Magnificat. They are all important to Bible study and mature umderstanding of the nature of God, but in my opinion the deeper concepts of faith should be reserved for Bible study where questions can be answered and the teacher has more intimate contact with the listener and can guage his listeners understanding.
