What Christian denominations have been connected with St Andrews?
St Andrews was built as a Presbyterian Church to replace the Wickham Terrace Presbyterian Church when the Railway Department bought the building and its site in 1900. The Wickham Terrace Presbyterian Church had commenced in 1862. After the Uniting Church in Australia was inaugurated in 1977, the Ann Street Uniting Church (formerly Congregational) amalgamated with St Andrews in 1981. The Congregational denomination had commenced its witness in the City of Brisbane as early as 1859. St Andrews is now a Uniting Church with reminders within its walls of its Congregational and Presbyterian traditions.
