What choices do u have regarding labour and birth?
I’m also in the UK. I presume you’ll be with the NHS? Luckily the days of doing what Matron says while laying back and thinking of England are long gone. It’s all about choice now. You can choose where you give birth – this can be at home, at a midwife led centre, a hospital (and you decide which – doesn’t have to be your local one), or a specialist birth centre. You decide what pain relief you want, who you want at the birth, what you want to happen during the birth, and what position/how you want to give birth. Your choices during the birth itself, presuming it’s in a hospital or midwife centre. Most delivery rooms have a variety of facilities and equipment so you’ll have the option of moving around to find a position that works for you. This doesn’t have to be in bed as the majority of hospitals have floor mats, birth balls, birth stools, birthing pools, etc. Provided you don’t have an epidural and it’s a straight forward birth, then you will be encouraged to stay active and move ar
