Perhaps you could serve red eggs at the shower, or display them in a pretty bowl as decorations. You could also make red the primary color at the shower to wish the new baby good luck and a long, happy life. Noodles are a symbol of longevity, so you may want to incorporate them into your food. This will also help wish the new baby a long and healthy life. A layered cake is also appropriate – the sweetness symbolizes a rich, sweet life and the layers symbolize rising abundance for the coming year. Golden bells are traditionally hung up to keep bad spirits away from infants. Again, you could use these as decorations for the shower. This is the year of the Pig according to the Chinese zodiac, but the new year (beginning Feb 7) will be the year of the Rat.
