Although no hazardous chemicals are used for the operation of the project, an Operations Environmental Management Plan (OEMP) will be developed, submitted and reviewed prior to the commissioning of the Project. The OEMP will serve to provide guidance on specific actions and activities that will be implemented to decrease the potential for environmental degradation during operation, and to clearly define the proponent’s ongoing environmental commitment. The following sub-sections describe the components that will be addressed in the individual Plans, which when compiled will form the OEMP. An Accidents and Malfunctions Plan will be developed in order to protect personnel, equipment and the environment in the event of an emergency; this Plan will also define the mitigation measures that should be enacted to prevent these incidents from occurring.
