Letters and numbers with hyphens in between are allowed. A .CA domain name can be 2 to 50 characters in length. A .COM, .NET or .ORG domain name can be 1 to 67 characters in length. CIRA has a list of reserved names for .CA’s such as abbreviations of Canada, Canadian Provinces & Territories as well as Canadian cities and various landmarks. They also have an unpublished list of restricted names.
