What characteristics should a teachers aide have?
A teacher’s aide should have lots of energy. They should have good work ethic; plan to be to work on time and have good attendance. A teacher’s aide should be a good role model for the children. This means dressing professionally; being clean and neat and having a well modulated voice. The teacher’s aide can not be a know-it-all. The teacher is the professional who has had extensive training. If you disagree with the teacher, keep it to yourself. Be observant and you may learn why the teacher does things in a certain way. Be observant of the teachers methods. Learn these methods. When you begin your job; you will get a great deal of help and suggestions. Later on you will be expected to do these things on your own. Be flexible; working with children sometimes takes trial and error. Learn your responsibilities and do not over step them. Do not gossip. Do not talk about children out side the classroom.
