What Characteristics Do Plants and Algae Share?
There are more than 30,000 species of algae. Some types of algae are considered plants, but many are not. They come in multicellular and unicellular types. Algae used to be entirely grouped under the plant kingdom but have since been moved to be considered their own. The amount of diversity within algae and the important distinctions that carries relative to most plants put it solidly in its own category.
