What changes occured when the voting age in Canada decreased to 18?
The reduction of the voting age to 18 was during an era when the age of majority was reduced to the same age, and the drinking age was lowered in most provinces. It is difficult to conclude what impact this has had. We do know that young adult voters are less likely to vote, and if they do they are more likely to vote Liberal or NDP. I’ve linked to on online publication on the Elections Canada website that has some good articles examining young adult voters and lowering the voting age.
