What changes need to be made to make Simple Member Pro work with hosts like Hostgator?
Some web hosts like Hostgator use non standard server settings. Some have unusual security settings and some run PHP as CGI. These non standard server settings make the default htaccess file settings not work properly with the use of the redirection methods that Simple Member Pro use for affiliate links and hidden download links. There is a list of known web hosts on the SMP support forum which gives the changes needed for certain files in order to make the redirection work with a specific host. We do provide the needed changes to as many hosts as have been encountered to date. As new hosts come to our attention we do update this list so that all current known changes are always available through the support forum.
