What changes have been made to the conceptual framework since the previous visit?
In Spring, 2006, a committee was formed to evaluate and refine our conceptual framework. Concerns about the framework included the complexity of the model and the difficulty many faculty had in linking course objectives, key assignments, and assessments to the school’s Guiding Principles. The Guiding Principles are valued by the faculty and have been kept in the model as the unit’s philosophy statement, but faculty, in collaboration with our consortium and district mentor teachers, have added a mission statement and defined four goal areas: diversity and inclusiveness, research-based practices and standards, impact on learning and development, and evidence-informed decision making.
