What changes are foreseen in the residency?
Coming on the heels of our new combined residency program in internal medicine and general preventive medicine, we are excited to announce that we have received accreditation for a cardiovascular medicine fellowship. The first class of fellows will begin in 2009. There are six total fellowship positions, two in each year. We are confident that the addition of the cardiology fellowship will further enhance the training of our residents in cardiovascular diseases. This past July, we welcomed the first members of our combined four-year program in internal medicine and general preventive medicine in conjunction with the UCSF Division of Preventive Medicine & Public Health and the UC Berkeley School of Public Health has officially begun. Satisfactory completion of the combined training program allows eligibility for dual certification in both internal medicine and public health/general preventive medicine.
